Who are Axxès?

Kapsch TrafficCom’s new on-board unit for the European electronic toll service on the Tolltickets and Axxès market

Leading technology, improved usability, smaller size and greater capacity for value-added services

Tolltickets , a company of Kapsch Group and Axxès, are launching a brand new on-board unit (OBU), which is certified for the European Electronic Toll Service (EETS).

Kapsch TrafficCom and Axxès work closely together to design and maintain EETS solutions. Introduced in Belgium, it was the first EETS-certified toll collection device on 1 April 2016. Today, Axxès serves a fleet of 200,000 trucks equipped with a satellite solution from Kapsch TrafficCom. Axxès is a leading provider of European transport companies with the simplest, easiest and most reliable solutions for fees and ITS.

Axxès and Kapsch have decided to benefit from their long-standing collaboration by working together to develop their solutions. Both companies are ready to address the new toll niches opened on the EETS market in the near future, starting with Germany and Italy. EETS will facilitate daily operations for passengers, improve traffic and reduce congestion. Today, in different EU member states, road users pay tolls to the relevant local toll operator. For example, this obliges an internationally operating truck to equip and register OBUs in each country it enters.

In the future, you will only need one contract with an EETS provider and one OBU. The EETS therefore complements the national electronic charging services of the Member States. “Due to the variety of ITS services and technical features, such as Bluetooth connectivity, EETS-OBU provides added value for drivers and transport companies in their day-to-day business,” said Andre Locks, Chief Operating Officer of Kapsch TrafficCom. “The new OBU can be used throughout the EETS toll network in Europe, even in Italy, which uses a variety of communication technology,” added Peter Selmayer, General Manager of Toltikets. The company, founded in Germany in 2007, is a leading provider of toll services serving B2C and B2B customers. In addition to toll services, the company’s portfolio includes transaction processing services and online authorizations for fleet companies.
